Is there a hangover cure for cannabis? What to do if you’re a little too high - CanIDeal

The truth is, we’ve all had been there. You’re watching that cool Edgar Allan Poe animated feature on Netflix when all of the sudden the marijuana brownie kicks in. You’re high. Not hovercraft high. Astronaut, out of this galaxy high. Your heartbeat is racing and everything on the screen poses an imminent threat to you.

You realize then that there is a such thing as being too high and you want to come back down to this planet. The only issue is maybe it feels like you never will. Well, similarly to how there are certain tricks that can help you cure a hangover, there are a couple things that can help you fix an overwhelming high.

One: Relax, take it easy

The effects of greening out usually fade in a matter of minutes to hours. Beyond that you may experience a little drowsiness, but nothing long-lasting will occur. You’re not going to overdose because — well, you’d have to consume a humanly impossible amount of cannabis for that to happen. So even if you see the Grim Reaper himself coming for you, just remember, you’re ridiculously high and everything is going to be alright.

Two: Use the old black pepper trick

The key to curing an overwhelming high may be sitting right there in your kitchen cabinet. Chewing or sniffing black pepper can provide rapid relief. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Neil Young even swears by it.

Three: Hydrate and munch away

Alcohol can increase THC concentrations in your blood, so stay away from booze if you’re trying to come down from a big high. Like your mom always tells you when you’re sick, drink plenty of water or juice. Really, the goal is to cleanse your system.

Snacking is a nice distraction from the effects of the THC. Plus, you’re passing time and relaxing. Those endorphins can counteract the paranoia and anxiety.

Four: Take a bath or a shower

When you get back to your house or apartment, give yourself a break by hopping in a warm shower. The water will help you chill out.

Five: Sleep it off

Let yourself pass out. You could be knocked out for almost an entire day if you’ve consumed enough, but you’ll wake up refreshed and reset. Focus on your own inhalation and exhalation. Doing this will take your mind off of the symptoms.

Six: Forget about it

Distract yourself with anything other than thinking about how stoned you are.

  • Play video games
  • Listen to music
  • Make love with your significant other or a non-significant other
  • Throw grapes in the air and catch them in your mouth
  • Belly Dance in front of the mirror to perfect your form

It doesn’t matter what you do. Just make sure that it’s something that makes you happy, so the high enhances that instead of something negative that might begin to fester and cause you anxiety and paranoia.
