6 Surprising Benefits of CBD - CanIDeal

CBD, the non-intoxicating part of the cannabis plant has been touted for its incredible health benefits. When grown and treated properly, this substance is virtually risk-free, and has proven effective as a preventative medicine for many serious diseases and ailments. As scientists uncover more about how plant and animal chemistry work in concert, the medicinal properties of CBD continue to be illuminated. The body of research on CBD has grown exponentially even in the last couple of years and with it, mainstream acceptance has boomed. Cannabidiol has been held up as a miracle drug — below are just eight of the shocking reasons why.

1. Protects against Broken Bones and Bone Disease

CBD has been shown to prohibit an enzyme destroys bone-building compounds in the body, reducing the risk of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and other age-related bone diseases. The body stops creating cartilage and bone cells when an individual suffers from either disease. CBD spurs the process of new bone-cell formation, so users typically have faster-healing bones with stronger fracture calluses, decreasing the odds of re-breaking that same bone. In fact, the bones of users who take CBD are 35-50 percent stronger than those who do not incorporate CBD into their treatment plan.

2. Reduces Risk of Cancer

While cannabidiol alone may not be enough to treat certain cancers. Research suggests it may be effective at cancer prevention. Scientists assessed the records of eighty-four thousand male patients in California and discovered that cannabis users, who did not use tobacco had a 45 percent decrease in the odds of having bladder cancer.

In 2012, a study found that animals treated with CBD had a vastly reduced chance of developing colon cancer after being exposed to cancer-causing substances in a laboratory. CBD has also been found to reduce the occurrence of hepatic and benign adenoma tumors. Additionally, instances of skin cancer can be decreased with topical CBD solutions.

3. Protects and Heals Skin

So we just touched on how CBD can work as a cancer-fighter in the body and help reduce skin cancer. But here’s why: The skin has the highest concentration and amount of CB2 receptors in the body. CBD repairs damage from environmental pollutants and other free radicals.

CBD oils are growing in popularity as a part of skincare regimens with many well-documented cases of people curing carcinoma-type cancers and melanoma with topical application of cannabidiol.

4. Boosts Brain Health and Helps Prevent Neurodegeneration

CBD improves the efficiency of mitochondria and removes damaged brain cells. In addition, CBD reduces glutamate toxicity. An excess of glutamate causes the overstimulation of the cells, leading to cell damage and eventual cell death. The brain needs to constantly create new cells. Fortunately, cannabinoids help the brain do just that. A 2008 study showed that CBD had a positive effect on cell generation in general and producing new nerve cells in animals. For this reason, CBD is even beneficial to people suffering from diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

5. Promotes Fat Loss and Reduces the Risk of Diabetes

Numerous studies have shown regular CBD users have a smaller waist circumference, lower BMI, and reduced risk of obesity and diabetes. The rate of obesity among CBD users is about one-third lower than the general public despite the fact that users tend to consume many more calories per day. In 2006, CBD was shown to lower diabetes in lab rats and it’s been proven to assist the body in converting white fat into brown fat — a weight-reducer that promotes insulin regulation.

6. Lowers Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

In 2013, researchers found that CBD users had higher levels of good cholesterol in their blood than non-users. Inflammation causes CB2 receptors to triple, which increases the potency of cannabinoids as an anti-inflammatory treatment for the heart and other affected organs. A 2005 study showed that CBD ingested orally can slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Two years later, another study showed that CBD has a cardio-protective effect during heart attacks.

Conclusion:

While CBD alone may not be the cure-all many claim it is, it may be something close to that. This substance has enough science behind it to be worth adding it into your health and wellness regimen. Browse the CanIDeal site to see what CBD products we have to offer.
